Leslie H. Smith, spokesman for the Department of Lawyer Regulation of The Florida Bar informed local Historic City News reporters that in recent court orders the Florida Supreme Court disciplined 30 attorneys, including one in St Augustine: disbarring six, suspending 11, admonishing two, reprimanding six and revoking the licenses of five. One attorney was placed on probation.

The Miami Beach investor behind the Embassy Suites at St Augustine Beach failed to convince the North Coastal Design Review Board that their plans to develop a 194-room Vilano Beach Hotel, on the site of the iconic Magic Beach Motel, was the highest and best use of the land.

The City of St Augustine reported to Historic City News that in appreciation for their service, active-duty military and veterans will receive free admission to the historic downtown parking facility located at 1 Cordova Street all day on Saturday, December 4, on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Commissioners voted Tuesday morning in their regular meeting to deny ARC Appeal 2021-01 to build a 194-room Vilano Beach Hotel; upholding the decision of the North Coastal Design Review Board and denying the design review request for a new hotel-based mixed-use development.

At this morning’s regular meeting of the St Johns County Commission, a proposal to redevelop the St Augustine Outlet Mall into a maximum of 99,500 square feet of retail space received unanimous support.
