Historic City News was informed by Barbara Golden, spokesman for the Visitors and Convention Bureau that Florida’s Historic Coast is “open for business” and there are some really cool things happening in 2021. Golden asks that while participating in events, please be safe and follow CDC guidelines. Wear a face mask, wash your hands frequently and practice 6′ safe distancing.

To support their businesses and community, the City of St. Augustine Beach is promoting several socially responsible events that will encourage Historic City News subscribers to the beach throughout the 2020 holiday season. These fun events will be set against a backdrop of colorful light displays, mainly down A1A Beach Boulevard as well as throughout Pier Park.

Supreme Court disciplines 11 Florida attorneys

The Florida Bar, the state’s guardian for the integrity of the legal profession, announced to Historic City News reporters that the Florida Supreme Court, in orders issued from September 24 to October 28, 2020, disciplined 11 attorneys, disbarring three, revoking the license of two, suspending five and reprimanding one.  One attorney was also placed on probation and another must pay restitution.

Dr Erika Hamer elected to chair local Chamber of Commerce

Isabelle Renault, President and CEO of St Johns County Chamber of Commerce, has announced to Historic City News that new members have been elected and seated to the chamber’s Board of Directors. Each of the elected board members’ terms are three years, and the Chamber’s fiscal year begins on the first day of October and ends on the last day of September.
