Its official – City is an El Galeon homeport
Officially commencing on October 1, 2013, Historic City News has learned that the City of St Augustine has entered into a “Homeport 450th Dockage Agreement” with Fundacion Nao Victoria, owners of El Galeon Andalucia, to dock and operate one or more Spanish historical replica tall ships at the Municipal Marina; continuing through January 1, 2016.

The American Automobile Association named St Augustine as one of the 10 most walkable cities in North America, and it’s no wonder for a small downtown, whose streets were laid out in the 1590’s, we are a tightly compact small community of 13,000 whose town center is a mixture of residential, attractions, museums, restaurants and retail shops as well as historical monuments, churches and a college.
Pat Syeles has invited Historic City News readers to meet fascinating people in arts, culture, heritage, attractions and business at their upcoming monthly gathering on Tuesday, September 10th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Raintree Restaurant; located at 102 San Marco Avenue in St Augustine.
