It has been nearly 48 years since a hurricane struck the first coast directly from the east and that hurricane, Hurricane Dora has been the only one to strike from the east since records have been kept dating back to 1851.

Commissioner Tom Rivers addressed the board. He’s been advised by the Supervisor of Elections that running for St Johns School Board requires his immediate resignation from the Port board, which he’s done.

The International Keystone Knights of the Ku Klux Klan applied to join civic-minded organizations in Union County by “adopting” a one-mile section of Georgia Highway 515 near Blairsville; however, the Georgia Department of Transportation, in consultation with Governor Nathan Deal, denied the request.
