Renuart convenes local legislative delegation
Returning State Representative, Ronald “Doc” Renuart, announced to Historic City News that the St Johns County Legislative Delegation will hold its organizational meeting and general legislative public hearing on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.



Historic City News received word that our readers are invited to attend a “meet and greet” with the six top applicants for the position of Chief of Police at 7:00 p.m. tonight; ending a search and outside evaluation of potential replacements for former chief Richard Hedges after his retirement earlier this year.


Judge Wendy W Berger, Fifth District Court of Appeal, will administer the oath of office to Mayor Joseph L. Boles, Jr and St Augustine Commissioner-elect Roxanne Horvath, during a re-organization meeting on Monday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Alcazar Room of City Hall located at 75 King Street.
Thomas M Crawford, a 12-year St Johns County employee earning $93,217 per year as Director of Housing and Community Services, in a letter dated Thursday, has resigned his position; giving no notice, but expressing anger for the way he says the County Administration is overstepping their authority.
Clerk of Court Cheryl Strickland gave notice to Historic City News reporters that the Board of County Commissioners of St Johns County, Florida, will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. in the County Auditorium at the County Administration Building, 500 San Sebastian View, St Augustine, Florida.
Nine years ago, long before St Augustine and St Johns County property values hit the skids, or the rest of the general economy for that matter, Mayor George Gardner set out on an ambitious project to identify recommendations that could be presented to the City Commission regarding historic preservation — recently, sitting Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline, who served on the 2003 ad hoc committee, is trying to resurrect the recommendations.
After hearing two Planning and Zoning Board appeals, challenging approval of a tree removal at 21-A Casanova Road and approval of a “use-by-exception” for a scooter rental business at 125-A King Street, St Augustine City Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline will sponsor a pitch for increased spending on her preservationist agenda tomorrow night.
