Concerned that the St. Johns County Board of Commissioners is considering splitting parts of the City of St. Augustine into separate voting districts at their meeting on Tuesday morning, St. Augustine City Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline will bring forward her request for a resolution in support of keeping the city in one voting district Monday night.

Historic City News readers will learn Tuesday morning who will be our new Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners when a Special Reorganization Meeting convenes at 9:00 a.m. in the St. Johns County Auditorium located at 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine.

St. Augustine and St. Johns County elected officials, some who earn nearly double the average income in the area, should take note of an article that appeared yesterday in the Clearwater Beacon, titled, “Mayor, council forego pay raises”.

Historic City News reporters were informed yesterday that cities and counties could be barred from forcing developers to pay local impact fees or to pay for new roads and schools if a bill filed by District 19 Representative, Mike Weinstein, is made law.

In a decisive 5-0 vote this evening, Historic City News reporters watched as St. Johns School Board members ignored an ultimatum by South Street resident and business owner, Judith Seraphin, who declared that plan “E-revised” is the only plan that preserves and protects the rights of Lincolnville residents in the redistricting proposal.

This afternoon’s agenda may be short, however, Historic City News has received word that the St. Johns County School Board special meeting will be well attended — prompting the district office to move the meeting from the Superintendent’s Conference Room into the larger School Board Auditorium.
