Inaugural meeting strategies discussed
Last week, Historic City News was on hand for a one-hour workshop that brought together government and private stakeholders preparing for the inaugural meeting of the federal 450th Commemoration Commission later this summer.



The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners and the City of St. Augustine City Commission will hold a Special Joint Meeting on Tuesday, May 24th at 9:00 a.m. in the St. Johns County Auditorium located at 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine.
Preliminary reports from the Bureau of Labor Statistics for March show St. Johns County at 8.6% unemployment (about 8324 people) — down from 9.2% in February.
Mike Davis was born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1966, returning to St. Augustine in 1971 when his Father, Vernon, came back to help A. D. run the family business. Mike Davis has been working for A. D. Davis since the summer of 1981.
More than a year away from Election Day – 2012, Historic City News is already following early activity in local elections affecting St. Johns County voters.


Historic City News reporters have been following the drama and controversy surrounding the recently passed animal-drawn carriage ordinance including two additional ordinances that could modify it; both of which could become final on Monday night.
During his visit earlier this week, National Park Service official David Vela took the opportunity to visit some of the proposed exhibition space for the city’s upcoming commemorations prior to attending a workshop to discuss the inaugural meeting of the federal 450th commission.
