St. Augustine’s Major General Douglas Burnett was joined at ceremonies in Ft. Lauderdale by Florida Governor Charlie Crist and United States Representative Ron Klein in hailing the courage and sacrifice of the Florida National Guard’s 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team during today’s deployment ceremony.

Public Affairs Specialist Karen Pan reported to Historic City News local St. Johns County news desk that the first of five unpaid staff furlough days for county employees in 2010 will be Friday, January 15th.

This morning, NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox reported to Historic City News that over the past eight to ten months, NRA has received many hundreds of e-mails warning about “SB-2099,” a bill that would supposedly require you to report all your guns on your income tax return every April 15th.

All city offices will be closed Friday, January 1st, New Year’s Day, to re-open at 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. Monday, January 4th.
