June 4 – County Commission meeting
The regular meeting of the St Johns County Board of Commissioners was held Tuesday June 4, 2013, in the County Auditorium in the St Johns County Administration Palace located at 500 San Sebastian View in St Augustine.

A series of public budget hearings that include an evaluation of proposed funding requests for each St Johns County program, project, facility, and new initiative, requested for Fiscal Year 2014, begin this morning. Historic City News readers are invited to attend and encouraged to speak during the public hearings.
Historic City News readers who would like to participate on a local government advisory committee or volunteer board can take a more active role in county government by applying for one of a variety of current vacancies in St Johns County.
Historic City News has been following, with interest, as the City of St Augustine staff and commission members are being asked by a few vocal residents to intrude on the property rights of a local hotel operator who has built a permitted fence separating her commercial property on Dolphin Drive from pedestrian traffic along Anastasia Boulevard.
A few St Augustine residents have been pushing to deny local hotelier Virginia Whetstone the right to install a fence; separating her property on Dolphin Drive from Anastasia Boulevard on the east-side approach to the Bridge of Lions — going so far as to engage in an e-mail campaign to members of the city commission and city staff.
St Johns County Supervisor of Elections, Vicky Oakes, reported to Historic City News that those who wish to qualify as candidates for one of the three upcoming seats on the Hastings Town Council must do so next week.
