Thrasher backpedaling may be too late
St Augustine Senator John Thrasher has been visibly backpedaling to wipeout last-minute tweaks lawmakers made in 2012 that allowed 607 acres of Joe Anderson’s property in northwest St Johns County to receive “agriculture enclave” status.

The public never really trusts politicians; and, after a series of scandals during the past several years, several of which were reported in Historic City News, there appears to be a serious desire to improve the image of Florida politics during the final days of the 2013 legislative session.
Florida Executive Director Kevin Doyle reported to local Historic City News reporters in St Augustine that the Consumer Energy Alliance, in partnership with Associated Industries of Florida, has recruited 27,787 Florida residents to petition the US Department of State to approve construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline because of the jobs, energy and economic security generated by the project.
Historic City News reporters are often surprised at the types of expenditures and shenanigans that glide in and out of city and county commission meetings with full approval; and, completely under the radar through a portentous bit of parliamentary procedure known as the “consent agenda”.
The first meeting of the St Augustine City Commission is a workshop at 4:00 p.m. to discuss the municipal carpet golf facility, followed by the regular business meeting beginning at 5:00 p.m.
