St. Johns County public information officer Jeremy Robshaw informed Historic City News that on Thursday, Wil Smith was appointed as the Interim Director for the County’s Recreation and Parks Department; temporarily filling the position left vacant by Troy Blevins.

Standby crews were busy during last weekend’s nor’easter; the topic of discussion during “The Break Room” program when City of St. Augustine Director of Public Affairs, Paul Williamson, interviewed Todd Grant, Deputy Public Works Director.

Mark Knight, Director of the Planning and Building Department of the City of St. Augustine, reported to Historic City News that with the start of the new fiscal year, and retirement of Nick Andrade, the City welcomes William Franke to the position of Building Official.

Historic City News received notice that the City of St. Augustine will hold a public information meeting relating to the sea wall project that will convene on Thursday, October 20th.

Historic City News learned the City of St. Augustine’s organizational structure for the 450th Commemoration which articulates the roles of the city commission, federal commission, city employees and consultants, and community organizations.

Last week, the City of St. Augustine got some overdue good news when it comes to the First America Foundation fiasco; news that many residents compare to a “bad dream” that they would like to see go away — good news but not quite over yet.

With the St. Johns River Water Management District set to replace its ousted executive director this week, efforts by its board members to mold the powerful environmental agency into a smaller operation on friendlier terms with developers and utilities have created at least the appearance that a board member’s company could gain an unfair advantage…

Two weeks ago, Historic City News reported that St. Augustine City Manager, John Regan, introduced the city commission to Jennifer L. Zuberer who serves as Communications and Resources Manager for the 450th Commemoration; and, at last night’s meeting, she really showed her stuff.
