Historic City News was on hand today as a group of about 50 commissioners and leaders from across northeast Florida met to discuss the transportation project development process and to discuss revisions to their long-range transportation vision and goals for the region.

The St. Augustine City Commission will hold a workshop prior to the regularly scheduled Monday, February 28th city commission meeting, according to a notice received at the Historic City News desk.

“We have 225 interlocal agreements with municipalities,” County Commission Chairman Ken Bryan told city commissioners during their regular meeting last week; while Historic City News local reporters observed.

The City of St. Augustine is reporting to Historic City News readers that work begins this week on improvements along Orange Street; a project that one day could include a brick pedestrian and sightseeing vehicle lane replacing the eastbound traffic lane.

In Tallahassee on Wednesday, Democratic Senator Jeremy Ring released SB 1130, a bill that will make substantial changes to the Florida Retirement System; an issue being followed closely for Historic City News readers.

With the deadline imposed by U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood to secure a sub-grantee to assume the proposed rail line between Orlando and Tampa, U.S. House Transportation Committee Chairman John L. Mica told Historic City News he has completed his assessment of potential options.
