More changes requested for carriage ordinance

Assistant City Attorney Carlos Mendoza returned to the City Commission this week with the latest staff draft of a proposed horse-drawn carriage ordinance; an issue being closely followed by local Historic City News reporters.

Within the next 60 days, Historic City News is anticipating that the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners will adopt “impact fee” structures associated with findings made in a recent study completed by Dr. James Nicholas of the University of Florida.

A proposed horse carriage ordinance will be presented during the regular meeting of the City of St. Augustine commission; when they convene on Monday, January 24, 2011, beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Alcazar Room, on the first floor of City Hall, located at 75 King Street.
