Mica addresses Florida Passenger Rail Commission

Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Communications Director, Justin Harclerode, reported to Historic City News that U.S. Rep. John L. Mica, will address the Florida Statewide Passenger Rail Commission in Jacksonville tomorrow morning.

In observance of Martin Luther King Day, Cathy Dupont reported to Historic City News that all offices of the City of St. Augustine will be closed.

Approval sketchy on new bayfront pier

As the post-opening final touches are applied, five years after the huge Bridge of Lions rehabilitation project began, Historic City News readers have asked about the new bayfront pier which was constructed to the north of the west entrance plaza — more questions than answers remain.

The City of St. Augustine announced to local Historic City News reporters that they have recognized 10 year Public Works Department employee Chris Masters with the City of St. Augustine Employee of the Year Award.

Art and culture vendor proposals

The St. Johns County Tourist Development Council meets at 10:00 a.m. today to hear proposals from two groups to manage St. Johns County art, culture and heritage tourism development program starting in October 2011.

Coney named county employee of the year

Historic City News learned that Benjamin Coney was honored today when he was named “Employee of the Year” when St. Johns County held its annual Employee Service Awards ceremony.
