Historic City News has confirmed reports that Scott O’Connell will not be prosecuted after he was arrested and charged by St Johns County Sheriff David B. Shoar for the crime of domestic violence battery; a first-degree misdemeanor.

The polls in Hastings opened at 7:00 a.m. this morning for what would become the final town election, according to St Johns County Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes.

The City of St. Augustine Beach is seeking applications from residents to fill a vacancy on the City Commission from December 4, 2017, to December 31, 2018.

Citing increasing demands on his schedule and his expectation that the trend in management of the St Augustine Beach City Commission’s agenda will continue to grow, Commissioner Gary Snodgrass offered his resignation shortly after 6:00 p.m. at the commencement of the regular city commission meeting last night.

The county’s legislative priorities, adopted Tuesday October 17, were presented to the Legislative Delegation on Friday, October 20th. Historic City News readers can review the 87-page St Johns County 2018 Legislative Action Plan on the county’s website. It was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners two weeks ago.

Tuesday November 7, 2017 is Election Day in St. Johns County but ONLY for the voters of the Town of Hastings.  This election is open to all registered voters who reside within the incorporated limits of the Town of Hastings.

Property taxes are collected in arrears, so, although Historic City News readers have been following budget proposals from taxing authorities, levying authorities, community development districts, county department heads and constitutional officers, like the clerk of court and the sheriff, over the last six weeks, those budget requests are for spending in the 2018 Fiscal year.
