Funeral for State Trooper who was killed Saturday

Historic City News has been informed by Troop B Public Affairs Officer, Corporal Robert Hinton, of the date and times for the visitation and funeral of 30-year-old FHP Trooper Chelsea Richard; killed Saturday at about 2:10 p.m. along I-75 in Marion County while she was investigating another crash. Richard is the 45th Florida Highway Patrol Trooper to be killed in the line of duty.

When deputies and paramedics were called to the Ellsworth Drive home of 88-year-old Mary Shaw Mathews, in Palm Coast, Sheriff Jim Manfre told Historic City News that no one suspected anything was out of the ordinary. The woman’s primary care physician even told deputies that he would sign the death certificate.
