Texting-while-driving ban clears Senate

Florida is one of only five states not outlawing texting while driving — but, hoping to stamp out an “epidemic” of the dangerous activity, the Florida legislature may be changing that soon.


Historic City News has learned that St Johns County Circuit Judge Michael Traynor has allowed Randal Bryen Hart to withdraw his previous guilty plea to charges that he cut his dog’s throat and left him to die in a pasture near his home.
Sheriff’s spokesman Kevin Kelshaw reported to Historic City News that 75-year-old Romildo “Ray” Gottuso, who lived at 68 Dolphin Boulevard in Ponte Vedra Beach, died at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center from injuries sustained in a single-car collision on Friday, March 29th.
Jeremy Robshaw reported to Historic City News that this week, it is with great honor that St Johns County Fire Rescue celebrates April 14-20, as National Telecommunications Week — in honor of the men and women in our local communications center whose diligence and hard work helps to keep our county and its citizens safe.
Customers of Leroy’s Café, located at 2555 US-1 South, were still not being served their usual lunch of hamburgers and French fries today, as workers are still attempting to restore natural gas to the restaurant and other businesses near the intersection of Lewis Point Road.
For over two hours this morning, Historic City News reporters learned that the northbound lanes of US-1 were closed down due to a serious crash, north of Palencia near Las Calinas Boulevard. Traffic was returned to normal by lunchtime.
