Law enforcement officials tell Historic City News reporters that they believe a road rage incident turned to violence tonight as St Johns County sheriff’s deputies continue to investigate a shooting that occurred on US-1 South; between Watson Road and Southwood Road.

William W. Browning, born October 23, 1957, is serving a 150-year prison sentence for the second-degree beating and stabbing death of 44-year-old state social worker supervisor Judson Clements; but today, he is in the custody of the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office and was formally charged with a second murder that occurred in 1981.

Historic City News received word that, last night, St Johns County Fire Rescue and Sheriff’s deputies were able to coordinate the safe recovery of five trapped residents from a multi-family residential structure located at 100 Fairway Park Boulevard in Ponte Vedra Beach.
