Witness sought in golf course thefts
Detective Charles “Kip” Brantley at the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office informed local Historic City News reporters that on Saturday, golfers at the World Golf Village and Ponte Vedra Inn & Club became theft victims while they were distracted or playing golf.



A twenty-year-old St Augustine Beach resident has died from injuries sustained yesterday afternoon when the motorcycle he was operating struck a car turning into his path on South Ponce de Leon Boulevard.


A three-alarm residential structure fire broke out this afternoon at the home of 74-year-old Mary K. Wiggins in the Hildreth Back Bay subdivision in North City; the devastation from the flames rendered the house a total loss in less than 30 minutes.

A horrific incident of animal cruelty occurred last night, ending with a St Bernard mix dog being transported to Atlantic Veterinarian Hospital for emergency surgery — and its owner being transported to the St Johns County Detention Facility; where he remains in custody.
An 84-year-old man living off Lewis Speedway, north of St Augustine, was attacked in the early evening hours of Saturday January 12, and St Johns County Sheriff’s detectives are asking Historic City News readers for assistance identifying his assailant.
