Honors Program created to recognize high-achievers

St. Johns River Community College President Joe Pickens, J.D. told local Historic City News reporters that the college will expand its academic offerings this fall with the community’s brightest students in mind.

City Commission faces three major issues tonight

Historic City News readers will be interested in three major efforts on tonight’s City Commission agenda including a post office downtown without dozens of mail trucks, a partnership with the University of Florida and passenger rail service along the east coast with a station in St. Augustine.

450th commemoration workshop tomorrow

City Heritage Director Dana Ste. Claire, who also serves as 450th Commemoration executive director, announced to Historic City News local reporters that the second of monthly public workshops on planning for St. Augustine’s 450th commemoration will be held tomorrow, Tuesday May 25th at 5:00 p.m. in the Alcazar room at City Hall.

Regan contract to be approved tonight

Historic City News local reporters learned that at tonight’s regular meeting of the St. Augustine City Commission, Chief Operations Officer John Regan will be confirmed to become city manager as of July 1st.

Police investigating vandalism to parked cars

Local St. Augustine reporters at Historic City News have learned that last Sunday morning, Police Officer Frank Shipp responded to a residence on Loring Street to investigate vandalism to a vehicle.
