Kelso announces campaign endorsement

On April 4th Alan Kelso, Republican Candidate for State Representative – District 20 reported to Historic City News local news desk that he has received the endorsement of iCaucus with a vote of 93%.

DCF can not consider lawful firearm possession

Historic City News received word of a “win” for St. Johns County’s adoptive parents today when Governor Charlie Crist signed a new law prohibiting the lawful possession, storage, or use of a firearm, or ammunition, to be used as a criterion for adoption suitability.

St. Augustine police donate cars to academy

Susan Kessler reported to Historic City News local news reporters that the Criminal Justice Academy at St. Johns River Community College has received a donation of two police cars from the St. Augustine Police Department.

Rawlings Society meets at Casa Monica Friday

David Grantges told local news reporters at Historic City News that the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Society will be meeting at the Casa Monica Hotel located at 95 Cordova Street on Friday.

Energy Star appliance rebates start April 16th

Local Sears Hometown Store owner Jack Bunch announced to Historic City News reporters that Florida residents can access $17,585,000 in rebates available as part of the state’s “Cash for Appliances” rebate program.

John Vincent Maguire

John Vincent Maguire (Jay), 63. of St. Augustine, Fla., died March 29, 2010, at his home and will be greatly missed. He was a native and lifelong resident of St. Augustine. John was executive vice president for David Dobbs Enterprises.

Ethel L. Grunder

Ethel L. Grunder, 84, passed away on April 4, 2010, at Ponce Care Center. Ethel was a longtime resident of Wayne, N.J., before moving to St. Augustine 28 years ago.
