After two-terms in office, the chairman of the St Johns County Republican Party, Harlan Mason, is stepping down, and Historic City News will be watching Thursday evening to see who will lead the county’s largest political party of registered voters for the next two years.

The Florida Parole Commission announced to local Historic City News reporters that at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, they will once again consider whether or not 67-year-old Thomas Edward DeSherlia should be granted parole on his life sentence; but Brenda Parker says absolutely not.

Collections of the “tax” that was first sold to St Johns County residents in 1986 as “the tax you will never have to pay” are up a half-million dollars over last year; that according to a report obtained by Historic City News on Friday.

Laurie Sanderson reported the following St. Augustine and St. Johns County locations to Historic City News where the Florida Department of Transportation will be conducting roadwork that is expected to have an impact on driving, beginning this morning and continuing through the coming week.

Public Information Officer Matthew Sara reported an industrial fire to Historic City News at about 12:44 p.m. today after St Johns County Fire Rescue crews responded to the Hydro-Aluminum plant located at 200 Riviera Boulevard in St Augustine.
