Girls tell deputies couple lured them into car

Sheriff’s Public Information Officer, Sgt. Charles Mulligan, tells local Historic City News reporters that St. Johns County deputies are searching for a man and woman who they said tried to lure four girls into their car Saturday evening in Orangedale.

Terry McCahill informed local Historic City News reporters that her business, Pack ‘n Post Express on SR-16 in St. Augustine, will be sponsoring a free community shredding day with Shredding Source.

Freedom Road 1 Managing Partner, Derek Boyd Hankerson, informed Historic City News that an upcoming National Park Service conference in 2012 for the Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Project will be held in St. Augustine.

Grant allows purchase of fire training software

St. Johns County Fire Rescue announced to Historic City News that they have been awarded a $6000 grant that will allow them to purchase new interactive firefighter training and testing software.

Ratkovic appointed St Augustine City Clerk

At last night’s city commission meeting, Historic City News was watching as Vice Mayor Errol Jones moved to appoint Alison Ratkovic to fill the position of City Clerk that was left vacant upon the retirement of Karen Rogers in July.

Driver over-the-limit crashes into police car

A woman at the wheel of a car that rear-ended a patrol car in St. Augustine has been arrested by police and taken to the St. Johns County Detention Facility, charged with careless driving and driving under the influence alcohol – with property damage.

Assistant City Manager Timothy A. Burchfield updated local Historic City News reporters this morning with the figures that constitute the proposed bond issue discussed before the City of St. Augustine Commission in their regular meeting last night.
