Dedication honors Bailey, Dupree and Meade

The West Augustine CRA Steering Committee informed Historic City News that there will be a dedication ceremony at the Solomon Calhoun Community Center on August 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.

Fire Rescue launches new training programs

St. Johns County Fire Rescue Public Education and Information Officer Jeremy Robshaw reported to Historic City News that the county is launching a new program aimed at training residents in the skills needed to perform basic CPR and First Aid as well as operate an AED in an Emergency situation.

Dana Ste. Claire, who currently serves in the dual capacity of Executive Director of the 450th Commission and the city’s Director of the Department of Heritage Tourism, reported to Historic City News on his progress since taking on these new roles.

Record publisher gets another debt extension

Craig Mitchell, Senior Vice President of Finance for Morris Communications Company, LLC, reported on July 31, 2009 that it’s newspaper subsidiary, Morris Publishing Group, LLC, obtained an extension of the forbearance period on it’s overdue interest payments to creditors.

King Street flooding relief in sight

City Chief Operations Officer John Regan reported to Historic City news and the city commissioners last week that flooding along King Street, from the San Sebastian Bridge to Malaga Street, can be corrected, and will be next year.

Bed tax advocates prepare for workshop

Cultural advocates will ask “to be a true partner in shaping our county’s future” as the County Commission convenes a public workshop next Tuesday, August 11th.
