Caution urged on Airport Referendum

Historic City Media interviewed Edward R. Wuellner, AAE, Executive Director of the St. Augustine and St. Johns County Airport Authority this afternoon regarding the upcoming county commission meeting to consider a referendum to abolish the Airport Authority.

Freedom Trail Luncheon

Rev. C. T. Vivian, 83, was one of the closest living associates of Dr. Martin Luther King. He played an important part in the civil rights movement in St. Augustine in 1964 and is pictured in the center of a famous photograph showing the wade-in at St. Augustine Beach that attracted international attention.

Former employee arrested for fraud

26 year old Eric Ryan Vaughn is in custody pending $5,000.00 bond for charges stemming from a reported attempt to defraud a former employer by making unauthorized charges to the company’s account as well as two previous outstanding warrants. Sex Offenders – Failure to register

An increasing number of sex offenders are being arrested for violation of F.S. 943.0435(9) – Failure to properly register as a sexual offender. Yesterday, Benjamin Michael McGonigle became the latest in St. Johns County and this is not his first time.

Prowler spotted at Hastings apartments

The Hastings Manor apartments were the scene of an apparent burglary attempt sometime after 11:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Bouchard was called to the scene of one apartment where the resident heard noises outside. An unknown male suspect was seen fleeing on foot after the resident went outside to investigate the noise.

SJCC benefits from dinner and a movie

Monday, April 28, Gypsy Cab and the St. Johns Cultural Council have teamed up to present the first movie for their Cultural Film Series. A portion of the $25 per person ticket price will benefit the St. Johns Cultural Council and support their operations according to an announcement received by Historic City Media.

TDC Cat II Funding Workshops

Two workshops scheduled for April 28 and April 30, are being held by the SJC Tourist Development Council (TDC) to assist not-for-profit groups in applying for Category II funding support for special events. Last year, the TDC awarded $508,000 in Category II funding.
