A legal loophole allows a write-in candidate to file for election without party affiliation in partisan races.
On Friday evening, June 7, 2024, at approximately 5:10 p.m., the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office reported to Historic City News that they received a call from a concerned family member about a local man who left his residence with a firearm after making verbal threats to commit suicide. According to the source, the man had been drinking.
St Johns County commissioners heard a status update Tuesday of the American Rescue Plan Act enacted to provide economic relief during the COVID pandemic. Historic City News local reporters reviewed the video of presentations during the regular county commission meeting on June 4th.
St Johns County Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes informed Historic City News reporters that the “candidate qualifying period” for those running in the fall elections begins at noon, June 10th, and continues through June 14th at noon. Qualifying papers began being accepted Tuesday, May 28th, according to Section 99.061(8) F.S.
