The lack of black representation in local government is a battle blacks in St. Augustine and St. Johns County said they’ve been fighting for years. “If you’re not white many times your voice is just not heard,” Lincolnville community leader Judith Seraphin said in an interview with Jacksonville’s Action News.

North Davis Shores residents have been resilient in their efforts to call attention to the numerous zoning issues throughout the city; and in particular the property known as the “castle” at 100 Flagler Boulevard. Current zoning does not align with current and historical property usage of this and many other properties.

Assistant State Attorney and Public Information Officer, Spencer Hathaway, reported to Historic City News this afternoon that 41-year-old Tawny Lynn Blazejowski will spend the next 9-years in a state prison facility after being convicted today for aggravated stalking directed at a former boyfriend and his family members over a period of 8 months.

Payments in lieu of taxes are voluntary payments made by some colleges as a gesture of good will to help a city offset the loss of property taxes and to help defray the cost of services provided by the city. In no way should they be confused with fees and they are not assessed.
