Historic City News was informed today that Nelmar Terrace Neighborhood Association, the Neighborhood Council of St. Augustine, Inc., and seven individuals, have filed an appeal through their attorney to protest the issuance of a building permit by the City of St Augustine that would allow construction of a 7-Eleven convenience store that includes a 12-pump gas station.

400-FOOD-TRUCK-CUSTOMERSAnyone expecting a fast dining option at St Augustine Beach to be settled on second reading at last night’s city commission meeting is disappointed this morning after the continued drumbeat of competing restaurateurs has resulted in the proposed enabling ordinance for food trucks to be ordered back to City Attorney Doug Burnett for revision.

Just before 9:00 a.m. this morning, Historic City News local reporters welcomed Florida First Lady Ann Scott when she visited Ketterlinus Elementary School to provide special recognition for being one of the top five winners of the 2014 “First Lady’s Summer Literacy Adventure”.
