An unexpected turn of events led the planned speaker for Tuesday evening’s regular meeting of the Saint Augustine Tea Party to be called away to attend to family in south Florida. Historic City News was informed that Mr. Morrow will be rescheduled later.
Carl Halbirt, Archaeologist for the City of St. Augustine, announced to Historic City News that he will retire from the position he has held for 27 years, effective on September 30, 2017.
Last week, Historic City News was informed that a Florida Senate bill (SB 406 by Senator Bradley), was passed unanimously by the Senate Health Policy committee after it underwent substantial amendment.
7-Eleven was shown the un-welcome mat last year when an uproar caused by Nelmar Terrace neighbors and others in North City was sufficient to move City Manager John Regan to use money in the city’s general fund to purchase land (above its appraised value) to prevent construction of an already permitted convenience store on San Marco Avenue.
