St. Johns County patient latest to die from coronavirus

St. Johns County is the latest county to record a fatality due to COVID-19. The Florida Department of Health issued its 11:00 a.m. update to Historic City News this morning, where we found that Northeast Florida added another death to the running count of fatalities caused by the coronavirus.

Communications Specialist Sarah Butler reported to Historic City News that today at 4:00 p.m., a press conference is being held to discuss St. Johns County’s response to COVID-19 the novel coronavirus disease.  The meeting will be held in the Emergency Operations Center located at 100 EOC Drive in St. Augustine.

Today, Monday March 23, 2020, is the day that vehicular access to all public St Johns County beaches and public beach parking lots is – and remains – prohibited until further notice; that according to an announcement from Hunter S. Conrad, the newly appointed County Administrator.

Two pedestrians hospitalized in hit-and-run crash

At about 8:00 p.m. last night, Historic City News was informed by Florida Highway Patrol Troop G that a hit-and-run crash occurred on Old Moultrie Road in St Johns County.  According to Trooper Brandon Elder, the unknown driver fled the scene; last seen traveling northbound on Old Moultrie Road.
