Historic City News will not support the proposed change to Florida’s public records law, despite support from a Gulf Coast and south Florida legislator, as well as the Florida League of Cities.
Over the fifteen-years I and my family have published Historic City News, I’ve had several occasions to meet and talk with Civil Rights leader, Robert Hayling. It’s not every day you can speak with authentic figures in American history. I feel fortunate for those encounters and Dr. Hayling’s willingness to speak frankly with me about his experiences.

This year we’ve made amazing strides towards making our new Maritime Archaeology and Education Center a reality. Over the past five years we’ve raised over two million dollars to improve exhibitions, restore the historic site, purchase the Light Station and serve more senior citizens and children than ever before.
Historic City News is looking into a practice of “polling commissioners” that is believed to have occurred in St Augustine when the appointed City Manager sampled opinions of one or more elected city commissioners outside of a properly noticed public meeting.
I try to keep up with lede stories in NY TIMES and LA TIMES through a news editor’s clipping service I subscribe to. Admittedly, I am so focused on local news, I miss a lot of those articles; I mostly scan for editorial content, op-eds, letters from readers, etc.
