Paul K Williamson, Public Affairs Director for the City of St. Augustine, announced to Historic City News today that as the 18th season of Nights of Lights ends, after tonight the city would be a little bit darker.

4:30 a.m. comes early in the morning, but that hasn’t dissuaded Skip Hutton or Gina Burrell who live in the North City neighborhoods surrounding the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind from chartering a 15-passenger van to appear before a legislative committee and object to approval of House Bill 1039.

More than 100 women and men recently turned out for “Women Rock,” an informative networking event benefitting the Joanne Arnett Tutschek Breast Cancer Fund at the Flagler Health Care Foundation.

Communications Director Miki Gilloon reported to Historic City News that tomorrow and Thursday, three students from the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind are participating in the River Region East Science Fair.

Over 3000 athletes and 10,000 spectators participated in this weekend’s Suncoast Sports Festival at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, including a team of boys from St Johns County representing First Coast Gymnastics; who won 1st place overall.

First Coast Gymnastics reported to Historic City News that their boys’ team (levels 4-10) placed 6th place, overall, in the 2012 Sue Whitlow Invitational at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

The St. Johns Cultural Council announced to Historic City News local reporters that they would hold an open forum for the Arts, Culture and Heritage Community and those who are interested in finding out more about the new happenings within the organization.
