Last week, Ed Hall, who has spent the last twenty years building a reputation as an editorial cartoonist with bite, was “temporarily suspended” due to a controversy over a cartoon that appeared in The St. Augustine Record.

November 22nd was declared “End the Fed” day by a group of bloggers who support the passage of Representative Ron Paul’s legislation which would repeal the Federal Reserve Act — thereby putting an end to the Federal Reserve System; H.R. 2755.

Historic City News is pleased to have discovered a new “grass roots” community effort which is very easy to recommend — the proposed Lincolnville Community Garden.

Election Day, November 4th is quickly approaching. We are in the second week of early voting and absentee ballots are being collected. It is with great thought that careful consideration that we ask citizens to cast their votes.

The one cent sales tax “IS” conservative! Let’s face it, the proposed local option one cent sales tax may be earmarked for Conservation and Transportation, but the secondary benefits to St. Johns County will be tremendous.

Help Preserve Florida’s Working Waterfronts While we here at LAMP and the Lighthouse do not often advocate political issues, sometimes there are items on the ballot that are particularly important for historic preservation or maritime heritage.

Of all the issues on this year’s ballot, I am most concerned about the outcome of the proposal to establish a charter form of government for St. Johns County.
