When sexual offenders and predators are integrated back into the community, there are a number of requirements that become terms of their release — not for six-months, not for six-years, but for the rest of their lives. Historic City News learned of one such offender whose failure to update authorities on his place of residence has landed in the St Johns County Detention Facility.
On October 18th at approximately 11:00 p.m., St Augustine Police responded to Carmelo’s at 146 King Street to investigate a man harassing customers as they entered and exited the store. Upon arrival, officers observed the man, later identified as 31-year-old Jacob Robert Unrein of St Augustine, who was holding a brown bag containing a large can. Unrein threw away a 24oz can of 3.5% alcohol Modelo Chelada malt beverage when he saw the officers.
William Tobias-Elliott Tinsley was arrested Wednesday on a warrant charging him with five drug-related crimes including; (F.S. 893.1351.3) drug production, (F.S. 893.13.1a1) sale of opium or a derivative, (F.S. 893.13.1a1) sale of opium or a derivative, (F.S. 893.13.1a3) sale of opium or a derivative, (F.S. 893.135.1c1) trafficking in opium or a derivative and (F.S. 827.03.2d) child neglect. He was held in lieu of $95,000 bond.
Starting in November, Historic City News was informed that the City of St Augustine will begin parking enforcement against illegally parked vehicles to include Sunday mornings.
Brittany Kershaw informed local Historic City News crime reporters that on Monday, the Major Violators Unit of the Las Vegas Police Department arrested 38-year-old Bryan Patrick Loveland of Palm Coast on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation of a 12-year-old child, clearing another outstanding felony fugitive warrant from Flagler County.
Historic City News received word from the St. Augustine Police Department Community Affairs Officer, Dee Brown, that a visiting guest of a Lincolnville Air BNB was attacked by an UBER driver on October 14th about 2:38 a.m.
Yesterday afternoon, a battalion of St Johns County deputies were converged on the parking lot in front of the BP gas station and convenience store on US-1, north of I-95. A Georgia man, who had just killed his former stepdaughter in Brevard County, was sitting in a parked Ford Focus threatening to commit suicide.
St Augustine Police informed Historic City News local reporters that an incident that happened Wednesday morning has led to a manhunt for the person who robbed a woman of her purse at gunpoint.
