Senate Budget Prioritizes Education, Hurricane Recovery and Environmental Funding

Last year before announcing that he would not seek election to a second term in office, former city commissioner Todd Neville challenged city manager John P Regan during a duly called and noticed meeting, asking that at least two other commissioners join him in a vote to remove Regan from office due to his failure to perform.

Vilano Beach Main Street is mobilizing its members on the North Beaches to show support for four agenda items related to beach restoration that are scheduled to be considered by the St Johns County Board of Commissioners during their next regular business meeting on Tuesday, March 19th.

Historic City News would like to pass along a word of caution in a year that will no doubt produce some strategic negotiating during the 2019-2020 budget hearings.  In years of stress since 2008, there have been attempts to raid the budget of the St. Johns County Public Library System.  We have public libraries today, but we advise you not to take them for granted.

Saying that there is a growing trend of agencies to use the courts to avoid fulfilling public records requests, Republican Rep. Ray Rodrigues said he supports a Florida House committee bill, approved Wednesday, that is aimed at preventing government agencies from taking such evasive action.

If there has ever been criticism of recent administrations at City Hall, the un-Godly length of the meetings, largely caused by unnecessary pablum from the commission table, must be at the top of the list.  City residents might start participating in the meetings again if they know that the chair won’t delay them all night listening to a bunch of worthless, dumb, silly, and especially empty remarks from the “me too” gang of commissioners.

Historic City News readers interested in the historic preservation element of the Comprehensive Plan and to evaluate and rank the Historic Preservation Master Plan (HPMP) Work Plan Objectives for the Fiscal Year 2019/2020, will have an opportunity to provide input directly to members of the respective boards and city staff who will rank these elements and objectives.
