Coquina Landgrab: You’re going to lie and I’m going to swear to it

Prior to the City Commission meeting two weeks ago, Historic City News warned our readers that if St Augustine City Manager John Regan has his way, city residents will be forced to pay $459,000, or more, for a land grab on Coquina Avenue (Davis Shores) that is already underway.

During the subsequent city commission meeting, January 14th, the land grab, whose tentacles reach back to Commissioner Leanna Freeman (an attorney who lives less than 4-blocks away on South Matanzas Boulevard) and John P Regan (the city manager who lives about 2-blocks away on Solano Avenue), was presented by the Director of Public Works, Michael Cullum.

Florida House Republicans Congratulate Gov. DeSantis and Lt. Gov. Nunez

This week Florida celebrated the inauguration of Governor DeSantis and Lt. Governor Nunez. The ceremonies shared a vision for a bolder Florida. The Florida House looks forward to working with the Governor, Lt. Governor, and Florida Senate in continuing our steadfast progress of lowering taxes, creating a favorable regulatory climate, providing the best education for our children, and protecting our unique and precious natural resources. By working together to accomplish these goals, I believe Florida will look forward to an even brighter future.

Paid parking proposal

Max Royle, City Manager
City of St Augustine Beach

First, I’d like to make a clarification for Historic City News readers who have been trying to follow the discussions on beach parking plans.  The proposed paid parking plan for the City of St Augustine will NOT apply to pier park and the east end of Pope Road. Those roadways are owned by St Johns County, and it’s not known when the county might begin to charge for parking in those areas.
