Local detectives solve burglaries using intelligent leads
Northwest District Commander Brian C. Lee reported to Historic City News that Sergeant Robert Dean joined Detectives Samantha English and Andy Stoinoff in serving an arrest warrant on 42-year-old Steven Roberts — the man investigators say is responsible for several residential burglaries in St Johns County.

In 1995, 9-year-old Jimmy Ryce was murdered by Juan Carlos Chavez, and yesterday evening, at 8:17 p.m., 19-years later, a corrections official declared Chavez dead after injecting him with a lethal combination of drugs in the death chamber of Florida State Prison.

Gorish will likely spend remaining days in prison
Historic City News local reporters were informed that today, United States District Judge Marcia Morales Howard sentenced 67-year-old Charles Lee Gorish of St Augustine, to a 15-year sentence in federal prison for international transportation of images and videos of child pornography from Florida to Canada.

Manhunt underway for Elkton murder suspect
Investigators are asking Historic City News readers for assistance in locating a 46-year-old Elkton man who has been identified as the trigger man in a fatal shooting that occurred just before 5:00 a.m. on the morning of October 5, 2013, as patrons were filing out of Papi’s Bottle Club on North Nova Road in Ormond Beach.

Crime lab of top Florida law enforcement agency under suspicion
The man who was employed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as a chemist in their Pensacola crime lab, and was accused on Friday of swapping illegal drugs for over-the-counter medicines, has been arrested according to an announcement from the state’s top law enforcement agency received by Historic City News.
