St Augustine Civil Rights leader leaves legacy of civic activism

Historic City News was informed Wednesday that Dr. Robert B. Hayling, the dentist who led the civil rights movement in St. Augustine, Florida in the 1960s, passed away at his home in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, December 20, 2015, according to word received from his sister, Mrs. Yvonne Clarke of Sarasota.

Man struck by Jeep and killed while crossing US-1

At about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday evening, Historic City News was alerted to a vehicle-vs-pedestrian crash on US-1, northbound, near Target. The victim, 34-year-old Robert James Taylor, who has been living in St Augustine since moving from Fitzgerald, Georgia, was pronounced dead on the scene.
