At Historic City News last year, we adopted a new tool for cleaning up the writing on our website. In addition to two spellchecking applications, when a reporter submits an article to us for publication, it will be reviewed using Grammarly. In the City recycle holiday trees with yard waste

While cautioning Historic City News readers that strands of Christmas lights should not be disposed of in recycle bins, the City of St. Augustine reminds the community to set unadorned holiday trees curbside for pick-up with regularly scheduled yard waste collections.

Traffic stop turns into high-speed chase for two fugitives

Historic City News received word that two men who claimed to be on their way to St Augustine, fled the scene of an early morning traffic stop at SR-100 and the I‐95 north on‐ramp and leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit along Interstate-95. US Customs and Border Protection has determined that the men were unlawfully residing within the United States.

Habitual traffic offender arrested after a crash kills motorcyclist

Yesterday evening, December 26, 2019 at about 5:43 p.m., Historic City News was informed of the third St Johns County traffic fatality in as many days by a spokesman for Florida Highway Patrol Troop G.

Attorney discipline orders issued from November 21st to December 26th

The Florida Bar, the state’s guardian for the integrity of the legal profession, announced to local Historic City News reporters that the Florida Supreme Court recently ordered 15 attorneys to be disciplined, disbarring five and suspending 10. One attorney was also ordered to pay restitution. Attorneys suspended for periods of 91 days and longer must undergo a rigorous process to regain their law licenses including proving rehabilitation.

Homeless man that lived in a motel is now in custody facing kidnapping charges

The St Augustine Police Department informed local Historic City News reporters that they responded to a kidnapping complaint in the area of 50 Bridge Street, on Tuesday, December 24th, at approximately 8:50 a.m.

Motorcyclist killed in crash with Subaru on Christmas Day

A spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol reported to Historic City News that a fatal crash occurred in the intersection of SR-A1A and SR-206 at about 7:00 p.m. on Christmas Day.
