Nearly 2,400 local voters verified in a petition to amend Florida Constitution

By the close of business Monday, July 15th, Historic City News was informed that 2,325 St Johns County voter signatures had been verified by the Florida Department of State, Division of Elections, in Districts 4 and 6, on petitions seeking a constitutional amendment that will require U.S. citizenship in order to vote in Florida elections.

Friends release “Capturing the A1A Byway Story”

Spokesperson Danielle Anderson reported to Historic City News that Friends of A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway used funds from grants awarded by “Visit Florida” as well as “Cultural, Heritage, Rural and Nature Tourism” to produce their video project, “Capturing the A1A Byway Story”.  The short and full-length videos were released this week.

The Florida Highway Patrol alerted Historic City News reporters to two separate airplane crashes this morning; one on Barrel Factory Road at Leonard Road that occurred about 7:40 a.m., the second, on CR-305 at Huff Road St Johns that occurred about 9:21 a.m.

Although the St Augustine City Commission has yet to approve a plan to conclude all future city meetings at a time certain, limiting the time presently used for public comment and discussion by members, at the meeting on July 8, several time-consuming items were tabled until its next meeting which is August 12.

During their July 8th meeting, St Augustine City Commissioners seated the final two remaining members to a seven-member blue-ribbon committee; impaneled to make recommendations about the future of short-term rentals in a congested and controversial market.
