Leads sought in hit-and-run collision last night

Historic City News local reporters received word that serious injuries were sustained in a hit-and-run collision last night by 48 year-old Lorenzo Evans of St. Augustine; according to a report from Lieutenant Bill Leeper with the Florida Highway Patrol.

HB-89 could eliminate high-priced legal ads

Historic City News will be closely following a measure filed late last week in the Florida House of Representatives where an antiquated state law is being challenged that has been used for years to pad the wallets of print newspapers with some of their highest-priced advertising — legal notices.

Flagler drunk and drugged driving campaign

Public Information Officer Debra Johnson told local St. Johns County reporters with Historic City News that the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has launched an enforcement campaign aimed at removing impaired drivers from the community highways in conjunction with the Governor’s proclamation of December as “Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention Month.”

Alleged child predator held on $1.5 million bond

A former deputy sheriff with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Department, who has been living in St. Augustine, is in custody today in lieu of bonds totaling $1.5 million dollars, according to records received by Historic City News this morning.
