On Tuesday, December 1st, Historic City News has learned that the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners will hear a presentation on the 2010 U.S. Census as part of their regular meeting.

Historic City News has been informed that St. Augustine’s British heritage will be celebrated in grand style on December 4th and 5th when British Night Watch and Grande Illumination return to the Oldest City.

As Thanksgiving approaches this week, the St. Johns County Public Library System is grateful for its loyal patrons and will be thanking them on Patron Appreciation Day tomorrow, November 24.

City clean-up crews were out in full force, collecting the trash, sweeping the streets and restoring order after the throngs of Saturday night’s revelers returned to there homes — although some in attendance were already home.

What if community associations ceased to exist?
We hear a lot from people unhappy with the concept of common interest ownership communities that we would all be better off if they ceased to exist.

St. Augustine resident, Ben W. Adams, Jr., has retired twice — but Historic City News learned last week that he has filed with the Supervisor of Elections; declaring his candidacy to become the next County Commissioner for District 2.

At the close of Tuesday’s County Commission meeting, current Commissioner Ken Bryan threw in a piece of last minute business that he says “is urgent” and must be approved before the Christmas holidays — allowing extended drinking hours.
