Dear Historic City News editor:
Someone will correct me if I’ve got this wrong, but I don’t think that any of the rioters, or if you prefer, zealous protesters, who stormed the Capitol on January 6th have been charged under the federal insurrection statute, and yet their acts are often described as “insurrection”.

Twenty new judges have been appointed in Florida and Historic City News was informed that one of those new judges is coming to the 7th Judicial Circuit for St Johns County. Altogether, nine of the twenty judges will fill new vacancies created by the Florida Legislature, bringing to 150 the total judicial appointments made by Governor Ron DeSantis.

A large crowd witnessed the 456th anniversary of the founding of St Augustine during the annual celebration. Guests were welcomed by a sunny day and a pleasant breeze from the bay.

Department of Corrections officials reported to Historic City News on Wednesday that the woman who once controlled the multi-million-dollar budget of St Johns County’s ex-sheriff, David B Shoar, has begun the reception and classification process of her 7-year, 4-month, and 11-day sentence in Florida’s prison system.
