Right to speak at public meetings
The full Senate could take a vote as early as next week on a measure aimed at ensuring that members of the public have a right to speak before local governing boards, such as city councils, county commissions, school boards, taxing districts or other local governments.

Historic City News reporters watched as two proclamations came before the St Johns County Board of Commissioners during their regular meeting yesterday morning; including a proclamation of March 7, 2013 as “International Women’s Day” and March 10, 2013 as “Coquina Veteran’s World War II Day”.
Historic City News received word that during yesterday’s closed session, St Johns County Attorney, Patrick McCormack, was directed by commission chairman Jay Morris to accept a settlement agreement in the lawsuit between the county and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.
The St Johns County Transportation Advisory Group notified Historic City News that they will conduct their annual informational meeting on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.; the meeting is open to the public.
This past weekend, high school students from St Johns and Clay chapters of the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast Delegation joined over 700 students who traveled to our state capitol to take part in the 56th annual Florida Youth in Government State Assembly.
Legislative Assistant John Kotyk informed local Historic City News reporters that St Johns County’s District 17 House member, Ronald “Doc” Renuart, has been recognized with a “2012 Florida Legislative Award” for his efforts to advance the mission of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.
