In a media release from Karen Pan with the Office of Public Affairs, Historic City News and Media was advised that St. Johns County is currently accepting applications for the following Board and Committee vacancies.

Inaugural class – “Crisis Intervention Team”

Stating that when budget cuts come around, the most “at need” are truly the first affected, Sheriff David Shoar introduced Historic City News and other media representatives to the first class of Crisis Intervention Team trainees from local law enforcement and social services agencies in St. Johns County.

Special meeting to consider charter ordinance

In an announcement received by Historic City News this morning, we are advised that the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners will hold a Special Meeting on Thursday, May 29, at 1:30 p.m. in the County Auditorium, located at 4020 Lewis Speedway in St. Augustine.

The deadline for prospective candidates to submit petitions to the Supervisor of Elections for verification in all Statewide, County, Special District & Municipal contests is noon on Monday, May 19, 2008.

Inside the new administration building

Kevin Wiseman, project manager for the new county administration building, gave Historic City News and Media a “hard hat” tour of the construction progress on the new 105,000 square foot facility this morning and gave us a review of some of the thinking that went in to the design and planning for the project.
