A 34 year-old St Augustine man is in custody in lieu of $123,500 bail today after he admitted to law enforcement deputies that he stole thousands of dollars’ worth of his mother’s jewelry and sold it for cash to settle an overdue debt to his drug dealer.

For the second time in less than two weeks, St Augustine Police were called to the Kangaroo Express located at 800 South Ponce De Leon Boulevard at SR-207 to investigate a robbery that occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. this morning.

Flagler County Sheriff Donald W. Fleming informed Historic City News that a Bunnell man who escaped from deputies Tuesday evening is, once again, in custody — this time at the Flagler County Jail.

A convenience store clerk working at the Kangaroo in the 4500 block of US-1 North in St Augustine, reported to sheriff’s deputies yesterday that he confronted a 20 year-old St Johns County man after he was observed inside the clerk’s vehicle.

Public Information Officer Lt Jeremy Robshaw reported to Historic City News that St Johns County Fire Rescue personnel responded to a multi-family structure fire in the 700 block of Middle Branch Way at approximately 10:15 a.m. this morning.
