Statue of Spirit honors K-9 officers
Historic City News was on hand today when a bronze statue to commemorate and memorialize the hard work of the Sheriff’s K-9 officers and their handlers was dedicated at the Memorial Courtyard in front of the Sheriff’s Office in St. Augustine.



Historic City News learned from the Florida Department of Transportation that St. Johns Sheriff’s Corporal Robin Juratovac will be recognized at a ceremony on Wednesday, October 26th as a “Top Officer” for her outstanding efforts during the 2011 Train Safety Awareness Week.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue spokesperson, Jeremy Robshaw, informed Historic City News that personnel were dispatched this afternoon to a reported Level III emergency at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport at St. Augustine.
Public Information Officer Debra Johnson told local reporters with Historic City News that deputies in Flagler County investigated the shooting of a Palm Coast woman last night and have ruled it an accident.
In accordance with Florida State Statute 775.21, this news release will serve as public notification that the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office has been given information that a person judged to be a sexual predator is now residing within St. Johns County.
Historic City News has learned that St. Augustine Beach resident, 38 year-old Travis David Tomko, an accomplished professional tag-team wrestler, known by his ring name “Tomko”, has been taken into custody and booked in the St. Johns County Jail — charged with strong-arm robbery.
Late last night, St. Johns County Sheriff’s spokesman Kevin Kelshaw told Historic City News that witnesses observed four St. Johns County teenagers prowling in the area of the 6500 block of Burnham Circle in Ponte Vedra Beach.
Accusations in St. Johns County that a 66 year-old Fort McCoy man has sexually abused a 12 year-old girl, has led detectives to arrest George Robert Lightkep — who resides at 25344 E 139th Lane Northeast.
