Santa makes early visit to St. Augustine

Santa reported to Historic City News that he will make an early visit to St. Augustine this week at the St. Augustine Health and Rehabilitation Center.

County acts on issues impacting the city

City Attorney Ron Brown told Historic City News that four items on today’s County Commission agenda will impact the city of St. Augustine.

Harbor Management Plan approved

Last night, St. Augustine city commissioners approved $588,500 from city reserve funds for mooring field development, a pump-out boat and water taxi according to today’s St. Augustine Report.

12/14 City commission meeting at a glance

Historic City News was on board for a seven-hour session with the St. Augustine City Commission last night; four hours of which was dominated by a presentation and public hearing on the new Harbor Management Plan.

Extended drinking hours approved

Historic City News listened as County Commissioners extolled the benefits of extending the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in St. Johns County for an additional hour; effective December 19th.

Ray Quinn to replace Miner on commission

Historic City News received official word yesterday afternoon that effective January 2, 2010, Sergeant Major (Ret) Ray A. Quinn has been appointed as Interim St. Johns County Commissioner for District 3 while County Commissioner Mark P. Miner takes a temporary leave of absence.

Gate makes Police Athletic League donation

The St. Johns County Police Athletic League reported to Historic City News that they recently received a donation in the amount of $18,000 from The Gate Foundation in support of their youth programs.
