Cancer claims wife of Flagler County sheriff
Lorraine Fleming, wife of Flagler County Sheriff Donald Fleming, died early Saturday morning after waging a courageous battle with cancer according to a notice in the Daytona News Journal.
Fleming, who was 60 and resided in Palm Coast, was known as more than the wife of the sheriff and a homemaker. She made her mark on the community through her support and involvement with several service organizations, those who served with her say.

Two FCTI students arrested

Two female students attending classes at First Coast Technical Institute on Collins Avenue were arrested this week on charges of disruption of a school function; one of whom was also charged with resisting arrest without violence, battery on a school board employee, and violation of probation.
Student protects car with hatchet

A 17 year old St. Augustine High School student is facing ten days suspension from school after St. Johns County Sheriff’s deputies, aided by K-9 officers, performed “narcotics sniffs†of student vehicles parked on the school campus.
When K-9 “Justice†alerted on the student’s JEEP Cherokee Thursday, a further search was conducted. Deputies discovered a hatchet lodged between the driver’s door and seat.
Deputy Oke rescues swimmer

When a boat and its four passengers capsized in the Atlantic Ocean at Matanzas inlet yesterday, one of those stranded on a sandbar attempted the dangerous maneuver of swimming through the strong currents to shore.
The swimmer quickly got into trouble but luck was on her side.
Retail theft leads to arrest
A 21 year old St. Augustine resident is in jail this morning pending $200.00 bail for the theft of two bags, two tank tops and a pair of jean shorts from Bealls Department Store located in Cobblestone Village Shopping Center.
COA vehicles burglarized
St. Johns County Council on Aging reported that during the night last night, two COA vehicles were burglarized while parked at 1965 A1A South. The vehicles were secured at approximately 6:00 p.m. last night and were discovered to have been burglarized this morning at about 7:00 a.m.
