The deadline to apply for former Beach Commissioner Rich O’Brien’s seat was 4:00 p.m. Friday. Historic City News was informed that a dozen applications were received to fill in for O’Brien until his seat comes up for re-election in November 2020.
Patrician Price reported to Historic City News that readers interested in volunteering at the Guana-Tolomato-Matanzas Research Reserve should attend a New Volunteer Orientation coming April 5, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The St Augustine Police Department has long carried the stigma that came from a lack of accreditation. The St Johns County Sheriff’s Office has national and state accreditation which it achieved under the watch of the late sheriff, Neil J. Perry. The St Augustine Beach Police Department has state accreditation from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, which is less expensive, less demanding, and involves less scrutiny than national accreditation.

Senate Budget Prioritizes Education, Hurricane Recovery and Environmental Funding
Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Allen Nelson, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
The Florida Department of Health in St Johns County reported to Historic City News this week that for the eighth year in a row, St Johns County is ranked first in Florida in both Health Outcomes and Health Factors in the national 2019 County Health Rankings Report.
